![]() ![]() Under her birth name, Sequoia Snyder, she released her self-produced debut EP, Sempervirens. She was also selected to participate in the JAS Aspen Snowmass Academy (directed by Christian McBride), and Dee Dee Bridgewater’s pilot program for emerging women musicians, the Woodshed Network. Her musical endeavors in 2019 included being selected for the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Orchestra (directed by Brian Lynch), and the Kennedy Center’s Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead residency. After winning a nationwide contest in December 2018, she performed with popular R&B band The Internet on their national tour stop in Detroit. She has performed with esteemed musicians like Rodney Whitaker, Etienne Charles, Diego Rivera, and Randy Napolean since arriving on campus. REDWOOD is currently a senior jazz studies major at Michigan State University. REDWOOD earned amazing opportunities at Ellington, including performances with legendary artists like Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard, Terell Stafford, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. ![]() at the age of 10, she began singing in and outside of school and entered the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts as a vocal music major.Īfter becoming enamored with the piano during her freshman year, she changed her major and quickly became an accomplished performer and leader. She was heavily influenced by funk, soul, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, pop, and jazz while growing up. Pianist, producer, and composer REDWOOD was born in Washington, D.C., but spent her early childhood in Fort Myers, Florida. ![]()
